Formula one

Formula one is the fastest racing car in the world. It is called the greatest car show in the world. Formula one has a great influence on the people. Millions of people sit in front of the TV set or around the circuit and watch the race. The drivers are often called kings of speed and they show their ability to drive fast every second week of the season.People wondered about this racing many years ago. The cars were very different from todays formula ones. The question of safety and also the atmosphere of racing was different. It was a risk to drive so fast and a lot of tragic accidents happened. Also the rules have been changed since the first race was held. The rules are very strict today for safety. According to the rules, there are several races before the main race. They are called training heats and they are two or one day before the race. One day before the race there is a Qualifying heat. According to the Qualifying heat, the drivers take their place on the grid. In front of the starting line there is a driver who has won the qualifying he has a pole position. The drivers reach very high speed immediately after start and a lot of accidents happens. The safety car appears when an accident happens. Drivers must drive behind the safety car slowly and they cannot overtake each other. When someone doesnt obey the rules he has a penalty. It means that he must take a few seconds pit stop. When a F1 team and its drivers want to succeed, they must have a good team strategy. It means that the team management must plan everything important. They decide whether to use hard or soft tires, how many pit stops the driver should have, how much fuel to take, which driver is number one on the team Todays top teams have very good strategies which are different in every race. The best teams are McLaren, Ferrari, Jordan, Williams F1 and than less successful Stewart, Arrows, Minardi The drivers of McLaren are Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard. The ...
