One of the most controversial political issues of today is that of illegal immigrants from Mexico. Illegal immigration into the United States is a problem that should be stopped, as it is unfair to both Americans and to the people of the country from which they illegal immigrated. It is that the majority of illegal aliens residing in the United States are Mexicans. The Alien Contract Labor Laws of 1885, 1887, 1888 and 1891 restricted the immigration to the United States of people entering the country to work under contacts made before their arrival. Alien skilled laborers, under these laws, were allowed to enter the United States to work in new industries.In the 1980’s concern about the surge of illegal aliens into the United States has led Congress to pass legislation aimed at cutting illegal immigration. The immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 allows most illegal aliens who have resided in the United States regularly since January 1, 1982, to apply for legal status.
