Outline Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience that there is a need for stricter gun control laws. Central Idea: Focusing on stricter gun control laws will help cut down on crime. I.Gun control has become a heavily debated topic among the courts today. A.Congress is fighting for more strict law concerning guns. However, they are not having much luck.B. Should there be more strict laws concerning firearms? With all the current shootings that have occurred we should have more strict laws.II Guns have contributed to some of the largest crimes in United States history. A.For example, Martin Luther King's death, Beatles singer, Jack Lennon's death, and John F. Kennedy’s death all involved guns. Had there been more strict laws concerning guns these deaths might have been prevented. B.And more recently, the shooting at Columbine High School and the death of a first grade child has raised many questions about guns. If the legislature were to pass a law making firearms illegal, a great deal of crime could be cut down.III Are gun laws too strict already? A. Although, the rifle associations today feel that the laws are currently too strict, there are way too many people being killed especially children. B. Currently Congress is trying to push to pass the gun legislation more quickly. They are working on legislation to force child safety locks to be on guns, and to ban large quantites of animation caps. IV However, this does not solve the problem of children’s access to guns. Parents are still keeping them in their homes. A. Although Congress might be able to force gun companies to put child safety locks on the gun, most children above the age of 10 can figure out how to take the lock off. Conclusion. With more laws putting bans on various issues dealing with firearms, the government could cut down on many of the problems with guns....
