I tried to begin my study without any bias towards the results and believe that I succeeded in that category. I have been working for the casino for about six months so this gave me a little more access to the information than the average Joe. The results lead me to believe that the effects of the casino on the Verde valley as a whole are relatively small. In this report I will show the economic effect of the casino on the Verde valley as well as the effect it has on the crime rate bankruptcy and over all poverty. In addition I will compare these results with that of other cities around the nation which also have tribal gaming within fifty miles of there city. The first thing I did to begin my research was to ask my boss how much the casino grosses per year. She unfortunately told me that was confidential, so I asked the man in charge of the department that tracks how much money is spent buy the guests. He answered that the casino on average grosses a few billion dollars a year but that the amount that is actually kept as profit for the tribe is a lot less. He told me that the average amount of money spent by the guests ranged from about two to three hundred dollars per visit, and surprisingly enough most people that gamble at the casino are actually coming up from Phoenix or down from Flagstaff. I found this to be very interesting so I figured that economically the Verde valley must be pretty well of considering there not really giving a whole a lot and making a bunch. I then compared these findings to that of other casinos around the area. The first thing I did was make a phone call to Buckys casino in Prescott fortunately they were very happy to answer a few of the questions I had. I asked,...
