LIVING LOCATION AND FAMILY h Anne was born on June 12,1929 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany h Second daughter of Otto and Edith Frank h Has a sister named Margot, who is three years older than her h Comes from Jewish/German descent h Otto Frank (Annes father) served as an officer in the German army during WWI. h In 1933, due to Hitlers anti-Jewish decrees, Otto Frank opened a branch of his company, Opteka, in Amsterdam and brought his family there. h Anne and Margot spent the summer of 1933 in Aachen, Germany with their grandmother. h Anne, Margot and Edith moved to Amsterdam, February 1934, they lived in 37 Merwederplain h Anne began to attend the Montessori school, where she excelled, she made many friends and was an exceptional student h Margot received a notice from the Nazi SS to report for work detail at a labor camp. h July 5th , 1942, Anne and her family moved to the Secret Annex h The leader of the Nazi Party was Adolf Hitler, he believed that the German people were a superior race, stronger, and more intelligent h By 1933, the Nazi was the largest party in Germany appointed to head the gouvernment h 1940, Hitlers troops conquered Holland and the freedom of the Jews began to be severely restricted, Nazis occupied the Netherlands h After the summer of 1941 Anne was not allowed to attend school with non-Jews h By 1942, all Jews, 6 years old and older had to wear a yellow star of David on their clothes to differentiate between Jews and non-Jewish people h 1942, mass arrests of Jews and mandatory service in German work camps were becoming a routine. h June 1944, the group of the allied landed in Normandy h Anne received a diary from her parents, for her 13th birthday (June 12th 1942), it was just weeks before her family went into hiding in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam h Anne entitled diary Kitty, it was her comfort, confidant and friend h She recorded there, were in many ways the ordinary thoughts and feelings of a teenage ...
