The performance was at the Edison Theatre in downtown Long Beach and it was in a small theatre with only a few rows of chairs one each side. The show was entitled ?Pilgrims? and it was a series of short drama performed by the California Repertory Company, but the one that I will focus on is ?The Many Things That Denny Brown Did Not Know (age fifteen).? We sat in the first row and the stage literally began at our feet. The atmosphere was real relaxing when we first sat down. There was soft music playing in the background and the room was real dark and there was a tree in the middle of the stage. Leaves covered the entire stage and I sat there anxiously waiting for the show to begin.The drama was entitled ?The Many Things Denny Brown Did Not Know (age fifteen).? It began was actor Chris Mc Cool as Denny Brown and he was an older man, but did such a convincing of making the audience believe that he was Denny Brown and was fifteen years old. Denny Brown did not know many things about his parents such as what type of nurse his father was and Denny Brown did not know what his mother?s favorite thing to do was. Denny Brown did not know why the guy next door Russell Kalesky became his best friend and Denny definitely did not know that Russel?s younger sister, Paulette would soon become his girlfriend.This play was about a boy who didn?t know many things about the people he loved or why things happened the way they do. Denny ended up falling in love with Paulette, but Denny did not know that Paulette went out with him in the beginning because he reminded her of his father and Paulette was madly in love with Denny?s father.I thought that this play worked and I enjoyed it very much. Some of the actors were older, but very convincing of their characters. This drama was more oral interpretation than acting because the actors played with the audience?s imagination.
