MARRIAGE

The status quo of marriage in American society, in some cases, is a moderately I do know, however, thatbefore the marriage takes place there isan interlude called the dating period. Inthis dating period the two members of thecouple attempt to get to know one another.This is the period where many people fall inlove. This is also the period where manypeople realize that they are with the wrongperson and have to start over withsomeone new. The dating process, whichlasts for a sporadic interval of time, endswhen one person in the couple offers amarriage proposal to the other. Thisagreement to marriage is a sacred bond oflove and trust that proves to one'ssignificant other that one will enter into anexclusive relationship with that person untilthey are parted by death. If the marriageproposal is accepted, the couple ispronounced engaged, or betrothed to oneanother, and they set a marriage date.During the engagement the coupleexchanges rings as a sign of devotion. Oncethe wedding date reaches its destination,the couple then performs the marriageceremony, which is a gathering of closefriends and family to witness the marriage.This ceremony is performed in a church atthe hand of a priest who then pronouncesthe marriage as holy matrimony. During thewedding ceremony there is anotherexchange of rings that show a symbol ofthe couples undying love for each other.After the wedding, the couple usuallytakes a trip called the honeymoon wherethey consummate the marriage by makinglove. This process is the norm for howpeople are married in American society.The problem with this system is that mostpeople enter into the marriage for thewrong reasons and end up getting adivorce. A divorce is a legal dissolution of amarriage contract. The problem withdivorce is that the marriage is supposed tobe a contract that is supposed to last untilsomeone in the couple dies; only then is thesacred vow broken. Otherwise, the coupleis going against God's will. Defying God...
