Being optimistic or pessimistic is completely a choice. When faced with everyday, normal situations or rare, complex situations, a person makes the choice (on the spot) to view the glass as half full, or half empty. And this choice dramatically effects that person’s life. When choosing to harbor pessimism, you might as well write the words “Un-Friendly” in big, bold letters right on your forehead. The way you walk and talk, along with your other mannerisms display you attitude almost as well as if you were to announce it over a loud speaker. pessimism will effect you socially in a way where you may never open yourself up to another person, or will never make the best of any situation because you are to busy looking at the downside. However, it does not only effect you.Your pessimism effects others too. In the work environment, public places and/or social gatherings you are around other people. One glance at your forehead and they know you better than you know yourself. Just go ahead and tell everyone to leave you alone because if you attitude does not drive them away, you are just going to drag them down. But why put you life at stake? You may jeopardize many events of your life: job interviews, sport tryouts, none will go right unless you believe they will. Events throughout life which require perseverance are to make you stronger, not to make you think you can’t. Some things in life are hard, or tricky, and this is where the important choice matters. So in your decision of becoming a pessimist, or optimist, recall the effects of each. Nothing you want will come of thinking negative. So even when there is no hope, think positive, everyone has the potential to make the right choice and be optimistic. What’s the harm? Because in the words of Bill Nershi, “Sometimes it seems like such a hard life, but there’s good times around the bend.”...
