Throughout history, there has been much controversy about racism and the deceased use of segregation. The 2 major people of this subject were Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. These men were quite different from each other with different perspectives on this conflict. In comparing these important men who have played a significant role in history. I agree with the opinion of Martin Luther King Jr.Martin Luther King Jr. was brought up in Georgia where his father was a preacher. His father taught him everything that he needed to know about life. He grew up memorizing biblical passages, and went on to become a minister in his father’s footsteps. As King grew older and participated in the civil rights movement, he organized the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), along with other African Americans. He became leader of the conference, where he preached about peaceful protest, nonviolent training, and the end of segregation. Many of his beliefs originated from Mohandas Gandhi who thought the only way to victory is through nonviolent protests. Whites faces the difficulties African Americans faced. They were persuaded to offer support to the movement for change. After King’s assassination, his dream became reality. Segregation was outlawed.The main Core Democratic Value that was demonstrated throughout the movement was Equality. King strived for equality through nonviolent protests while Malcolm X strived for a certain type of equality by not associating with whites but having equal rights. The people who were connected with this movement wanted to decree some type of equality. No matter what it would take or how long it takes it will not be forgotten until it is accomplished.The opposing side was Malcolm Little who later changed his name to Malcolm X.
